May, 2008
Greetings everyone. Thanks for coming back to the CMEA Website, or for visiting us for the first time. We had a very enjoyable social get-together last Friday after the State DECA Advisory Committee meeting with friends and colleagues to celebrate the end of another great year for CMEA. Congratulations to all the DECA students and advisors who participated in the International DECA Conference a couple of weeks ago in Atlanta. We also celebrated with Ev Vaughn, who is now the “official” State DECA Advisor. Ev’s been doing this job exceptionally well since Jim’s passing, and is doing great work for Colorado DECA.
I also want to congratulate all of the CMEA scholarship applicants. We had eight outstanding students from all over the state apply for the two $1,000 scholarships. The competition was stiff and every applicant is deserving of funding, I wish we had money for all of them. But, after all the debate and close review by the Board, Katherine Hartwig from Chaparral DECA and Joshua Smith from Thornton DECA are the well deserving recipients of this year’s CMEA scholarships.
Don’t forget about the State CACTE Summer Conference that will be held July 22 – 24 in Fort Collins. Check our link to the State CACTE registration site for this conference.
And for sure, please go to our link to register for the next CMEA Fall Conference in Vail on September 18 – 20, 2008. Rand Coolman has done a fantastic job in putting together the conference. Everyone have a great summer and I look forward to “handing the baton” over to Rand as our next CMEA president.
